Ever Heard of a Polenta Party?

Ever Heard of a Polenta Party?

I spent a little time discovering polenta parties last night.  They look REALLY really fun and I would love to host one.  Essentially, from what I have gathered, it’s an old Italian tradition that helped people keep warm and fed in the throws of winter.  Stirring the polenta continuously is a tiring thing and thus the cooking of it became a group event so that attendees could take turns stirring the pot.  Once the polenta is cooked to perfection, it is poured directly on to a wooden polenta board and topped with various sides.  In some of the modern images I discovered, the table would be set with plates, wine, salad and the steaming 4-foot board of polenta as the centerpiece.  It’s an enticing image.  What do you think?  Would you get down at a polenta shindig?
